- Joseph Berg was one of the main preachers at a conference in Gatten in 2002, but Tuesday evening during the meeting it was announced, that he had been admitted to hospital with a break on the backbone after a serious motorbike accident in a close by gravel pit:
We drove around in a gravel pit at my in laws' place and at the end I "just" had to race my wonderful brother-in-law. We wanted to see who reached to the top of the gravel pit first, but none of us came up, because I hit the edge of the slope and flew through the air out over the front of the motorbike, which followed me and landed on top of my leg, Joseph explains.

Joseph landed on the back of his head and everything became black. The next thing he felt was the steering wheel/styr of the motorbike who hit him in the side and when he hit the ground again he could feel the thoracic vertebra collapse like dominoes. After that he felt a big snap just over the loin.
- I do not remember exactly what happened but ouch-ouch-ouch! I came to myself again with a very violent pain in the back, it was so very painful! I tried to get up, but fell back down again! I was taken to the emergency room and had a X-ray examination. Afterwards I was scanned. The report from the hospital was a break on the backbone, just over the loin, and three months in bed!


Felt heat!
Joseph came into a ward and had some painkiller. He had to lie totally still. The painkiller did not work, so he had a higher dose and fell asleep. At 7 pm he woke up because something happened in his back.
- I could feel a heat right where the break was, and I just knew that somebody was praying for me. Later I found out that it was my wife Kitte and our lovely children who had prayed for me at exactly that time, Joseph says.
Already the day after he was up walking around, and three days later he was discharged. The ambulance drove him to Gatten wearing an iron corset. He was transported lying down, but could easily walk around. In the afternoon he participated in the baptism and in the evening he was to a meeting with Christian Hedegaard, who preached a radical message about healing.
While he sat there in the audience listening, his faith grew. The pain in the back disappeared completely, and suddenly Joseph was gone.

Took off the corset
Joseph went out to the toilets to take off the iron corset. He wanted to check his healing, and when he a little later went up to the stage and bend his back back and forth the hall was boiling with excitement. Everybody knew that a great miracle had happened - because everybody had heard about the accident and had helped to pray for Joseph.
- For a short period I felt pain because of my rib, which had had a squeeze. But it passed away again. After just a month I started to work out, he tells.
Joseph Berg is again mowing fast, not on a motorbike, but in church. After the summer vacation he has been so busy, that he has not had time to go to the hospital for control. Another arrangement was more important, now he has had respite, and as he says himself:
- I feel just great!
